I also offer counselling for other issues which sometimes, but don’t necessarily, overlap with
addiction/compulsion experiences.
Depression
Depression is often the result of harbouring or burying past emotions that you felt too anxious to express either at the time or in their fulness because of perceived consequences. Counselling helps you to unearth and explore those feelings and reassess them in the present day with a to placing them in a new perspective.
Bereavement/Grief
Feelings of grief can arise from several sources, but they are almost all the result of feelings following losing someone or something that held emotional significance for you. This is typically a person, but could be a pet, a job, a home. Most feelings of grief follow a ‘normal’ if uncomfortable pattern, but sometimes they become overwhelming and counselling can help to ‘unstick’ that situation.
Stress or Anxiety
Stress and anxiety can arise from a number of situations that present themselves as having a negative impact or adverse consequences. Counselling can help you explore the roots of the anxiety and address the feelings differently.
ADHD
People experiencing ADHD can be labelled as ‘difficult’, but there’s an argument for saying it’s managing the symptoms of what is a neurological condition that can be difficult. Counselling helps you increase confidence in who you are, and to negotiate that with the world around you.
